About us

The Transition program at BCSSSD is designed for students with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 21. At the transition level, instruction focuses on Career Awareness, Careeer Exploration, Community Living, and Recreation. The Transition Team practices Person-Centered Thinking and Planning in which each student's values, gifts, strengths, and abilities are identified and embraced within authentic community environments.

Mary Jean Kneringer

Mary Jean Kneringer, Principal Transitions at BCSSSD

Ms. Kneringer has completed her bachelor's degree at Rowan University receiving both Teacher of the Handicapped and Teacher of Reading certificates. Subsequently, she attended Temple University and completed her Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Applied Behavior Analysis. While there, she earned her national certificate as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and was published on two ocassions in leading journals. Ms. Kneringer then completed her supervisor certification at Rowan University and her Principal certification through New Jersey’s Leader to Leader Program. Ms. Kneringer taught middle and high school students in both public and private school settings for seven years and served as an administrator at the Bancroft school and residential program for seventeen years. There she directed, lead and developed behavioral, residential and vocational programs. Ms Kneringer returned back to public education in 2007 at Burlington County Special Services School District’s Educational Services Unit (ESU) as an autism consultant for public school services and then as a supervisor for the next seven years. Following that period of time, Ms. Kneringer became the Director of Child Study Team and Related Services of BCSSSD and then Building Principal of the Lumberton Campus before being named the Principal of the Transition Campus of BCSSSD.

Ms. Kneringer enjoys spending time with her two daughters and husband. She continues to be an active community and school volunteer in her hometown including service on her local Board of Education since 2012. She has been named the Board's Vice President since 2013. Ms. Kneringer and her family continue to be strong advocates for foster care services.
